By The Grace of God fue el primer single del disco de mismo nombre del grupo sueco The Hellacopters, publicado en 2002.
En este tema nos encontramos con rock en estado puro, sin haber sido corrompido por las modas que van y vienen, simplemente eso, rock, pero con mayúsculas. Solo hay que escuchar el sonido de esa guitarra, una de las mejores canciones que he escuchado últimamente en este aspecto.
Daría lo que fuera por tocar este tema con el Guitar Hero. Dios mio debe de ser una auténtica gozada.
Por cierto, gracias a Keny por pasarme semejante temazo, gran descubrimiento este.
Hace varios meses el vocalista del conocido grupo System of a Down, Serj Tankian, anunció que estaba trabajando en un nuevo disco en solitario, aprovechando asi el resto de miembros del grupo para realizar distintos proyectos por su parte.
Serj definía su nuevo album, titulado Elect the Dead, como un disco más orientado al rock, pero con la fuerza de los primeros trabajos que llevó a cabo con System of a Down, además, afirmaba que el disco contendría altas dosis de temática política (con mucha chicha), sin faltar otras tales como temas personales o cómicos (espero alguna le llegue a la suela de los zapatos a "Cigaro", solo de recordar el: My cock is much bigger than yours, my cock can walk right through the door!!!With a feeling so pure.. It's got you screaming back for more! ... me meo de risa xD).
Hace unas semanas, se conoció uno de los temas de dicho disco, con altisimo contenido político, haciendo una crítica brutal a la situación actual de la democracia, el título lo dice todo: The Unthinking Majority. Si bien en el aspecto puramente musical es muy muy parecido a lo que hemos visto en System of a Down, el contenido de la letra recuerda a los primeros trabajos de la banda, y eso se agradece.
Además, se ha liberado otra de las canciones del disco, que personalmente me gusta mucho mas que la anterior, en la que claramente se hace referencia a la guerra de Irak (solo hay que ver el videoclip, atentos al atentado sobre los "cubos gemelos" y a la caida del "GRAN oso" xDDD), dios mio las caras que pone este tio son pa mear y no echar gota, no se porque me ha recordado al video de Chop Suey (bueno, si se por qué xD).
Por cierto, como curiosidad, Serj se encarga de tocar todos los instrumentos, salvo la batería, con la que le ayuda su viejo compañero de SOAD, John Dolmayan, además, ha anunciado que en el disco colaborarán otros artistas.

Bueno, tras un breve "descanso" (con muchas comillas), por cuestiones de exámenes, retomo el blog (No, no estaba abandonado), aunque todavía no los he acabado (en realidad no he hecho ni el primero aún xD). Pero para los que visitéis el blog, os dejo una review de un álbum buenísimo para que vayáis abriendo boca para lo que se avecina en unas semanitas (MsK Vol. 3 por fin? Eso parece).
En 2002, el actor Jared Leto (Alejandro Magno, La Habitación del Pánico, entre otras), junto con su hermano (batería), Tomo Milicevic (guitarra) y Tim Kelleher (bajo), publicaron su primer disco con el nombre del propio grupo: 30 Seconds to Mars.
El álbum pasó inadvertido en ventas pero recibió excelentes críticas por parte de los medios especializados. Llegó a las escasas 100 mil unidades vendidas, cifra insignificante si la comparamos con los más de 1 millón de discos de su segundo álbum.
Este disco es, en mi opinión, el mejor del grupo, para mi muy superior a Beautiful Lie, por su composición mas lograda, letras inteligentes y, sobre todo, por el estilo cambiante entre las diferentes canciones del mismo. Si bien le he asignado el genero de "Rock" (es el que creo que mas predomina), el estilo real sería mas bien un Hard-Rock con algunos matices Metal, en su justa medida, que hacen que el disco en su conjunto sea una auténtica delicia, esto es caviar para los oidos, señores.
Se me hace realmente difícil destacar canciones en concreto, ya que el disco es bastante homogéneo en calidad, pero quizás destaquen algo más temas como Oblivion, Capricorn, Edge of The Earth, Fallen o End of The Beginning (utilicé esta última para dar el pistoletazo de salida al blog, si bien no puse nada sobre ella salvo una parte del estribillo).
Como hay que seleccionar 3 canciones, tengo que hacer una criba espectacular, pero bueno, estas son las que, tras meditarlo, creo merecen más estar aquí.

Si después de escuchar esta canción no reaccionas automáticamente pulsando la tecla "replay" de tu reproductor, es que o bien no te lavaste bien esta mañana los oídos o que te has equivocado de web para consultar nueva música que escuchar. Estamos ante probablemente una de las mejores canciones que ha publicado este grupo, si no la mejor. En lo referente al contenido de la letra, poco podemos aportar, ya que una de las genialidades de este grupo es su intención de crear temas que tengan un significado diferente según la persona que los escuche, personalmente me inclino por la temática apocalíptica (me parece obvio, aunque quizás es porque yo soy muy así, que le vamos a hacer).
Nos encontramos ante una canción melódicamente trabajadísima, con un estribillo pegadizo pero que no llega a cansar gracias a los frecuentes cambios de ritmo, apoyados por el gran trabajo realizado por el guitarrista, además de un ritmo fuertemente marcado a cada frase fuera del estribillo (los primeros compases de la canción son espectaculares, los everybody run now, mantienen viva la canción de forma magistral).

He aquí la típica canción de un disco que al principio no te llama demasiado, que pasa completamente desapercibida, pero que cuando uno se pone a escuchar con detenimiento el disco, disfrutando los detalles, observando las letras atentamente, saboreando cada acorde, cae en la cuenta de que está ante un diamante embruto.
Este es el tema elaborado, la canción "profunda", esa que acaba siendo la favorita, la que no aborrecemos con el paso del tiempo. Y es que la letra es de lo mas inteligente que he escuchado últimamente, no tiene desperdicio, cada uno de los versos está colocado estratégicamente, más o menos cifrado, más o menos obvio.
No voy a explicar el significado de la letra, merece la pena hacer el esfuerzo por entenderla, pero los primeros versos resumen magistralmente lo que nos encontraremos después:

Este fue el primer single del disco. No es la mejor canción del álbum, pero si la que mejor entra por los "ojos" al principio, y por tanto, buena elección para primer single (Hasta tiene videoclip y todo). Es eso, la reina del baile.
No hay mucho mas que comentar sobre esta última. Únicamente volver a resaltar la letra inteligentísima, marca de la casa. También recomendamos: (Haz clic en el nombre para ver el video)

En definitiva, estamos ante un disco de una calidad excepcional, y un grupo con un presente y futuro interesantísimo. El álbum no pierde fuelle en ningún momento, se mantiene estable en calidad y posee ritmos variados que no dejarán indiferente a nadie. Las 11 canciones no se hacen escasas, una duración ajustada, pero excelente para ser su primer trabajo, y en ningún momento echamos en falta más. Lo que si se echa de menos es alguna canción mas tranquila (Echelon es lo que más se acerca a esto), a pesar de los cambios de ritmo dentro de los diferentes temas, siempre es bueno tener "una de las lentas".
Los Más:
-Variedad de estilos. -Originalidad en temas y melodías, se alejan de lo típico. -Ritmos marcados. -Engancha desde el principio. -Las letras, impresionantes. -La voz de Jared Leto.
Los Menos:
-Falta alguna canción lenta más. -Que este disco haya pasado tan desapercibido. -¡Que no pueda poner mas videoclips por no sobrecargar la pagina!
