Wolfmother es un grupo que comenzó hace pocos años en 2003 en Sydney, Australia. Ellos se denominan "Retro-Rock" pero se pueden meter en el grupo de Hard Rock o Rock Stoner. En 2004 Wolfmother comienzan aparecer en grandes eventos como Homebake y el Big Day Out. En septiembre de ese mismo año sacan el EP Wolfmother que arrasa en las tiendas. En 2005 tras firmar con Interscope viajan a Los Angeles y graban su primer álbum Wolfmother junto al productor Dave Sardy (Red Hot Chili Pepers, Oasis, Marilyn Manson). En 2006 empiezan a girar promocionando el disco, y comparten escenario con artistas tan populares como Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop o Buckcherry en el Azkena Rock de Vitoria, además también tocaron gran parte de la gira europea teloneando a Pearl Jam.

Woman es la primera canción del disco y el cuarto single. Como curiosidades decir que ha sido numero 7 U.S. Mainstream Rock y numero 10 U.S. Modern Rock y también ha salido en juegos como Tony Hawk´s Project 8, Guitar Hero II. Espero que os guste!

Interpol se forma en 1998 en la Universidad de Nueva York. Después de dos años de actuaciones por Nueva York y alrededores en el año 2000 publicaron EP Interpol con la compañía Fukd. Un año después tras visitar Inglaterra firman con el sello Matador y en 2002 sacan su primer álbum Turn On the Bright Lights. El disco se vendió bastante bien para ser una producción alternativa, giraron por Estados Unidos recibiendo buenas criticas. En 2004 lanzan Antics con el que vuelven a conseguir buenas criticas que les lleva a irse de gira como teloneros de U2 y The Cure. El ultimo álbum salió el año pasado con el nombre de Our Love to Admire (2007) y su primer single The Heinrich Maneuver subió hasta el puesto 11 de la lista US Modern Rock.

Slow Hands es el primer single de Antics (2004) y consiguió el #15 en US Modern Rock y #36 UK Single Chart.

Replica está incluida en el primer álbum de los finlandeses Sonata Arctica, publicado en 1999 (estamos nórdicos ultimamente xD). El disco fue un rotundo éxito allí en Finlandia, lo que provocó que saliese de tierras nórdicas y se publicase en el resto del mundo.

En 2006 lanzaron un disco recopilatorio que contendría una versión remasterizada de Replica, y que sería el primer single de dicha compilación.

Me encantan los riffs de guitarra de esta gente, no parecen metidos de bulto, como a veces ocurre.

Grandes grupos se pueden encontrar en los países nórdicos, y que, al menos para nosotros, no pasarán desapercibidos.

Backyard Babies es una banda de punk-rock y hard-rock procedente de Nässjö (Suecia). El grupo cuenta entre sus influencias con Guns n Roses, Sex Pistols, New York Dolls, The Stooges, Kiss, y estuvieron en una ola de Rock Escandinavo que supuso un resurgir del Hard Rock a finales de los Años 90 y principios de la nueva década. En los que se incluyen grupos como Hellacopters(Suecia), Turbonegro(Noruega), Gluecifer(Noruega), Hardcore Superstar(Suecia)... La banda se formo en 1987 y aun sigue tocando después de sacar cinco discos. Es una de las bandas más influyentes de Escandinavia. Son uno de los estandartes del rock escandinavo, y han sabido hacerse un hueco en la escena internacional gracias a su actitud gamberra y sus sonidos agresivos. Durante la década de 1990 dieron múltiples conciertos y giraron por todo el mundo.

Minus Celsius fue el primer single de Stockholm Syndrome (2002) que consiguió el Grammy a mejor álbum sueco. El juego Guitar Hero III también tiene esta canción ;)

The Hives es una banda Sueca conocida por sus enérgicas presentaciones en vivo y por sus vestuarios en blanco y negro. Todos sus discos rondan la media hora de duración, son canciones cortas y de estilo Punk Rock. Comenzaron en 1993 en la localidad sueca de Fagersta, sacaron su primer disco en 1997 Barely Ilegal, con la discográfica sueca Burning Heart Records. Poco después comienzan una gira por Estados Unidos y en 2000 lanzan el disco Veni Vidi Vicius un año mas tarde lanzan un álbum recopilatorio llamado Your new Favourite Band con la discográfica Poptones. El siguiente álbum Tyrannosaurus Hives (2003) debuto en #13 puesto en la lista de éxitos británica. Su ultimo disco salio el año pasado con el sello de Unviersal y se llama The Black and White Album.

Aka I-D-I-O-T (1998) es el nombre de uno de sus primeros trabajos un EP que incluía esta canción y otras seis más. Con la salida de Barely Ilegal se vuelve a incluir esta canción que es su primer Single.

También os pongo un vídeo de una actuación de The Hives en un programa de tv sueco, versionando unas canciones entre ellas Hey Ya! de Outkast, Seven Nation Army de The White Stripes, Gotta Get Some Action Now! de sus compatriotas Hellacopters.

The Moment of Our Love fue el primer single del álbum debut de los finlandeses Negative, publicado en 2003, a pesar de que se llevaba gestando desde 1997. El tema que nos ocupa fue un bombazo en Finlandia, llegando con facilidad al #1 en las listas de éxitos e impulsando las ventas de dicho disco, que roza la calificación de platino.

Si bien suelen mezclar letras duras con melodías que aparentan lo contrarío, en esta ocasión es más bien al revés, quedándonos con una canción con unos riffs bastante potentes y una letra digna de nuestra ya lejana Semana Oficial Moñas.

Por cierto, el cantante es un tio, por si os queda alguna duda despues de ver el video xD.

Wasteland fue el primer single del álbum Autumn Effect, publicado por los estadounidenses 10 Years. Este fue su primer "gran" trabajo, con una discográfica importante. Contiene varios temas que son versiones apenas modificadas de su anterior disco, lanzado en 2004, y que pasó más bien desapercibido. Entre esas canciones se encuentra esta que hemos puesto hoy.

Wasteland fue un completo éxito en EEUU, escalando las listas de éxitos sin parar, colocándose #1 en el US Modern Rock y #2 en el US Mainstream Rock.

Se han hecho varios videoclips para esta canción, uno para el primer álbum en el que apareció, en el que actuaba el actor y sobrino del cantante, Brad Renfro, en el que se cree que se basa el tema (adicción a las drogas), y que fue encontrado muerto por sobredosis hace un par de meses.

El clip que he puesto es el segundo en aparecer, y solo puede verse online. Más adelante aparecería el último y definitivo, con reivindicaciones sobre los derechos humanos en el mundo.

Recientemente han publicado otro álbum, Division, os mantendré informado :P

Rapper's Delight fue el single debut del grupo norteamericano Sugarhill Gang, publicado en 1979. Es muchas veces considerado como la primera canción de hip hop editada en la historia, si bien fue precedida por otra unos meses antes, pero que no tuvo una repercusión tan espectacular como la de los Sugarhill Gang.

El tema fue un bombazo en las listas de éxitos de EEUU y Reino Unido, y fue todo un estandarte para el género Hip Hop, que por aquel entonces empezaba a salir del cascarón.

Rapper's Delight fue rankeada como la 2º mejor canción hip-hop de la historia, únicamente por detrás de un tema de Common Sense.

Como curiosidad, la (horrible) canción (se le puede llamar canción?) Aserejé, del grupo español Las Ketchup, es una burda copia de esta obra de arte, sacada de los versos principales de Rapper's Delight leídos en spanglish. Y luego decían que se lo habían inventado... En fin, lamentable.

En realidad el tema dura 14 minutos 36 segundos y su letra contiene unas 3000 palabras, aunque he puesto un video de 7 minutos y pico ya que en youtube esta limitado a unos 9 minutos y el video esta pero fragmentado.

Recomiendo que os hagáis con esta canción y la escuchéis entera en todo su esplendor.

Novedades: ¡Listas de Reproducción!

Sí, por fin tenemos playlists... Me daba una pereza increible ponerme a ello, pero al final me he armado de valor y me he puesto a hacerlo. También he aprovechado para arreglar links rotos de videos de youtube (malditas productoras, los betan todos cada dos por tres...).

Y bien, algunos os preguntaréis: ¿Que coñ... digo, que "diantres" (xD) son las listas de reproducción (o playlist, mas corto :P)? Pues es una forma de poder escuchar una a una las canciones de una lista, sin tener que hacer nada, de forma automática. Por lo que así podréis darle al play y poneros a escucharlas en casita mientras hacéis otras cosas.

Bueno, os explico como irá el asunto. Habrá dos tipos de listas de reproducción, una global y que ira en miniatura en el sidebar del blog (usease, en la columnita de la derecha), y que contendrá todas las canciones publicadas hasta la fecha en el blog, y las demás, que corresponderán a cada genero musical. En breves añadiré una nueva sección con las playlist disponibles hasta el momento. Por ahora podéis verlo/oirlo en la que tenéis ahi a la derecha en mini.

Para que se cree un playlist de un genero en particular, deberá de contener al menos 5 canciones (he puesto este limite porque es absurdo tener listas con menos...), por tanto aun no hay muchas disponibles.

De momento solo hay 25 canciones en el playlist global, pero iré actualizando en los próximos días.

Por cierto, si encontráis algun video del blog que no se vea, os estaría eternamente agradecido si me lo comunicáseis, ya sea por mail o dejando un comentario.

Muse es una banda de Rock Inglesa originaria de Devon. Esta compuesta por Matthew Bellamy (compositor, voz, guitarra, teclado y piano); Christopher Wolstenholme (bajo eléctrico, teclados y coros) y Dominic Howard (batería y percusión). Sus canciones se inspiran en el peculiar interes su lider Bellamy en la conspiración global, vida extraterrestre, teología y el apocalipsis. Muchos videoclips siempre espectaculares son reflejo de estos intereses.

Sus conciertos se caracterizan por la fuera con la que tocan, no se les puede pedir mas compromiso y por el despliegue de medios que usan, suelen ser fijos en el FIB (Festival Internacional de Benicasim) aunque también han tocado en el PinkPop y Rock and Ring un festival mucho más rockero.

Hysteria es el tercer single del tercer disco llamado Absolution (2003). Las letras de este disco están influenciadas principalmente por la entrada de Inglaterra en la Guerra de Irak, en el tema Time is Running Out el primer single se puede ver muy bien.

Para mi Absolution fue el ultimo gran disco de Muse, ya que en 2006 sacan Black Holes and Revelations un disco muy eléctrico en el que las canciones recuerdan muy poco al Muse original de discos como Showbiz (1998) y Origin of Symmetry (2001) mucho mas guitarreros, sin salirse del rock alternativo.

Gangsta's Paradise fue el single debut del álbum de mismo nombre, publicado en 1995 por el cantante de hip hop conocido como Coolio. Este fue su primer trabajo en solitario, el primero y además el de mayor éxito en su carrera profesional. El disco fue certificado 4 veces platino, además de los 2 veces platino por parte del single que traemos entre manos hoy. Fue un bombazo tanto en los EEUU como en el Reino unido, reventando las listas de éxitos.

Además, ganó el Grammy a la Mejor interpretación de Rap individual. El tema es mundialmente conocido por ser el principal de la banda sonora de la película Mentes Peligrosas.

My Sharona fue el single debut del primer álbum del grupo The Knack, de nombre Get The Knack, y que fue publicado en 1979. Con este sencillo arrasaron en Estados Unidos, manteniéndose en el #1 durante 6 semanas, además de causar sensación en el Reino Unido.

A pesar del éxito de este su primer trabajo, sus posteriores discos no fueron muy bien acogidos por la crítica, y la banda acabo disuelta debido a conflictos internos, a pesar de ello, desde entonces se han reunido periódicamente y han seguido publicando mas cosillas, además de actuar en directo.

Ya hablando de My Sharona. El riff principal fue compuesto por el guitarrista Berton Averre mucho antes de unirse a The Knack. Al cantante de la banda, Doug Fieger, este riff le recordaba a una chica de la que se había enamorado a los 17 años, llamada Sharona, y compusieron la canción a partir de ello. Más tarde sería confirmado por The Knack que la sensación a la que se asociaba el riff era la de una erección (xDDD).

En fin, todo un clásico que merece ser recordado. Cuidado, es difícil sacarse la melodía de la cabeza.

Rain fue el tercer single del disco We are not Alone, publicado en 2004 por el grupo estadounidense Breaking Benjamin. Tuvo peor aceptación que los otros dos sencillos, cosa comprensible teniendo en cuenta que rara vez un baladón de este tipo rompe las listas de éxitos.

La canción originalmente era en acústico, acompañada de un sonido acuático relajante de fondo. Posteriormente se lanzaría como single una versión "completa" instrumentalmente, aunque en mi opinión desmerece la versión original. Por eso pongo arriba esta última.

Sí es el primer single de Flamingos (2002). Después de su marcha de Héroes del Silencio en 1996, Enrique Bunbury ha publicado cuatro discos en solitario con canciones nuevas y otros dos recopilatorios, además de hacer multitud de colaboraciones con Quique González, Revolver, Jaime Urrutia, etc. En 2006 saca un disco junto con Nacho Vegas llamado El tiempo de las cerezas.

Flamingos subió hasta la segunda posición en la lista de ventas española y fue un éxito México y Argentina. En España se colgó el cartel de "no hay billetes" en multitud de conciertos. En este disco colaboran artistas como Jaime Urrutia, Quimi Portet, Shuarma (Elefantes) entre otros.

Dido es una cantante británica que de la mano de su hermano Roll comenzó a introducirse en la música pop y rock, llegando por fin al grupo 'Faithless' con el que grabó 2 discos. Pero mientras estaba en ese grupo empezó a grabar sus maquetas en solitario.

En 1999 lanzó su primer disco "No Angel" donde se encuentra esta canción "Hunter". Tuvo muy buena acogida en Estados Unidos.

Gran parte del éxito del disco se debe al hecho de que eligiera un fragmento de un tema del álbum de Dido para incluirlo en su tema 'Stan'.

El segundo álbum del 2003 "Life for Rent" fue todo un éxito.

Y como curiosidades, su canción "Here With Me" se utilizó como tema musical para la serie Roswell y como la banda sonora para la película Love Actually. Tambien se supone que durante el año 2008 sacará un nuevo disco, pero no se sabe ni titulo ni fecha.
Tambien destacaría la longitud de la letra de sus canciones... que es un poco escasa, y aunque me guste mucho esta cantante no estaría de más que fueran mas largas :P.
