Fly Away fue el cuarto single del álbum 5, publicado en 1998 por el cantante y compositor Lenny Kravitz. Este es, hasta la fecha, su tema de mayor éxito, y sirvió para introducir su música al "gran público". Gracias a Fly Away, Lenny ganó en 1998 el Grammy a la Mejor Interpretación Rock Masculino.

El single copó las listas de éxitos de todo el mundo, destacando su buen hacer en EEUU y Reino Unido, llegando a mantenerse en los charts americanos en el número 1 durante varias semanas.

Como curiosidad, Fly Away ha sido utilizada en varios anuncios de aviones y de coches, e incluso ha sido utilizada para despertar a los astronautas de la NASA en la estación espacial internacional en una ocasión (xD).

I Miss You fue el segundo single del quinto álbum del grupo estadounidense Blink-182, de mismo título, publicado en 2003. El tema consiguió arrebatar el título de single más vendido de la banda a All the Small Things. El álbum fue además premiado con la certificación de platino.

Blink-182 trató, con este disco, dar un rotundo giro al estilo musical al que nos habían acostumbrado con sus anteriores trabajos, de boca de uno de sus miembros "Queríamos que cuando alguien lo oyese, dijese: ¿De verdad que esto es Blink-182?". Con este álbum podemos ver como la banda entraba en su etapa de madurez profesional, y a la vez, en el principio del fin como grupo, ya que recientemente uno de sus miembros confirmó que, tras mucho tiempo de especulación e incertidumbre, la disolución de Blink-182 es un hecho.

El vocalista y guitarrista de Blink-182 formó su propio grupo en 2005, bajo el nombre de Angels & Airwaves.

Creep fue el primer single del álbum debut del grupo inglés Radiohead, titulado Pablo Honey, publicado en 1993. Este fue el tema que les catapultó, de forma totalmente inesperada, a la fama. Si bien al principio fue un fracaso en su país de origen, después de que algunas estaciones de radio dejaran de emitirlo por encontrarlo demasiado "deprimente".

Su éxito se expandió por EEUU a un ritmo increible, hasta el punto en que los mismos componentes del grupo se quedaron boquiabiertos al ver, mientras hacían zapping, como su single Creep aparecía en la MTV.

Poco después la canción haría su reentrada en los charts del Reino Unido, para acabar siendo un éxito mundial.

Creep fue además incluida en el álbum recopilatorio de grandes éxitos de Radiohead publicado este mismo año 2008, reapareciendo de nuevo en los charts de su país natal después de 16 años.

En la actualidad Radiohead es un grupo alabado por crítica y público a partes iguales, siendo uno de los más altos exponentes del rock alternativo internacional, caracterizado principalmente por experimentar de forma exquisita con nuevos sonidos, que no dejan de sorprenderme.

Nach ya tiene nuevo disco

El pasado 27 de Mayo salió a la venta el nuevo trabajo del cantante y compositor de hip hop en español, Nach Scratch (que ya cambió su nombre a un simple Nach). Este nuevo disco, bajo el nombre de Un Día en Suburbia es ya su cuarto álbum de larga duración, y su primero con la discográfica multinacional Universal.

Hace ya más de un mes podían escucharse dos de sus nuevos temas, Manifiesto y Efectos Vocales. El primero, nueve exquisitos minutos de reflexiones variadas, rayando al nivel al que nos tiene acostumbrados, con una base musical excelente y un acabado sobresaliente. El segundo, una prueba de concepto muy curiosa, dividida en 3 partes en las que se marca un rap monovocálico, primero usando palabras con la A, para dar paso a las vocales O y E. Impresionante.

Originalidad, letras llenas de contenido social, rimas ricas y contundentes, variedad en ritmos y bases musicales es lo que nos ofrece este su nuevo disco. Diría que es más de lo mismo de lo que lleva haciendo durante años, pero es que cada canción suya es diferente, decir esto sería escupir pura ignorancia.

Año tras año este joven alicantino nos demuestra que ÉL es el hip hop español.

Ya le dedicamos una entrada en su día a uno de sus temas de su anterior álbum, concretamente a Tierra Prometida.

Tras un breve (o no tanto) parón por los exámenes (aunque no haya servido de mucho), volvemos con más canciones para vosotros, aunque aún no los he terminado, en breves seguiremos con el flujo normal de actualizaciones en el blog.

Where is My Mind? fue incluida en el álbum Surfer Rosa, publicado en 1988 por el grupo estadounidense The Pixies. Este fue su primer álbum de larga duración, y fue aclamado por la crítica, además de ser una fuerte influencia en el panoráma musical de finales de los 90, cantantes como Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) nombraron Surfer Rosa como una de sus principales influencias.

El sencillo que hoy nos ocupa fue "redescubierto" en 1999 con el lanzamiento de la película El Club de la Lucha (muy recomendable por cierto), al aparecer en la última escena de la misma, y reavivó el interés por este grupo que desaparecería en 1993.

Hasta ahora han sido numerosas las ocasiones en las que se han reunido los componentes del grupo, llegando a considerarse su regreso al mundo de la música como banda, pero a comienzos de 2008 confirmaron la ruptura de The Pixies de forma definitiva. Una verdadera lástima.

Where is My Mind? ha sido versionada por numerosos grupos, destacando la que realizó Placebo, y que os voy a dejar aquí para que le deis una escucha ;)

The Good Left Undone fue el tercer single del álbum The Sufferer & The Witness, publicado en 2006 por el grupo de punk rock Rise Against. Después de 30 semanas en las listas del US Modern Rock, alcanzó el puesto #6, convirtiéndose así en el mayor éxito de la banda estadounidense.

Hasta ahora poco había escuchado de este grupo, pero hoy me puse a curiosear y he encontrado cosas muy interesantes, como este tema de protesta contra la destrucción de la naturaleza por parte del hombre, bajo el título de Ready to Fall.

PD: Gracias de nuevo a leo por la sugerencia, aunque al final decidí poner esta en lugar de Like the Angel.

Hoy os traemos una versión de una canción increible que por allá por los primeros compases de los años 70 escribiría John Lennon.

Imagine fue incluida en el álbum de mismo nombre, publicado en 1971 por el ex miembro de los históricos Beatles. Es cuanto menos curioso como una canción claramente anti-religiosa, anti-capitalista y anti-nacionalista ha podido tener una aceptación tan inmensa a lo largo y ancho del mundo.

En 2004 la revista Rolling Stone la nombró tercera mejor canción de todos los tiempos.

Sobre la versión que os traemos hoy, fue incluida en el álbum eMOTIVe, publicado en 2004 por los californianos A Perfect Circle. Es increible como estos chicos cojan lo que cojan lo hacen sorprendentemente bien, y eso que al versionar un tema como este hay un alto índice de riesgo de acabar lapidado por la crítica y los fans.

Ya publicamos otra canción de este disco, pero esa vez era una original de esta banda y no un cover, como lo son todos los temas de este trabajo, menos 2.
