Country Rock: "Hurt" - Johnny Cash (Nine Inch Nails Cover)

Hurt es un tema original del grupo Nine Inch Nails, incluido en su álbum The Downward Spiral, publicado en 1994. En 2002, el cantante de country y rock, Johnny Cash, hizo un maravilloso cover de esta canción, con algunas variaciones sobre la original, que fue incluido en su álbum American IV: The Man Comes Around, uno de sus últimos trabajos antes de morir a los 71 años, en 2003.

La versión fue bien recibida incluso por el propio Trent Reznor, autor del tema y solista del grupo NIN, que afirmó en una entrevista después de ver el videoclip de Johnny que esa canción ya no le pertenecía. Y es que Cash la hizo suya.

El cover incluye ciertos cambios sobre el tema original, como la referencia a la corona de espinas de Jesucristo en el verso I wear this crown of thorns, en lugar del I wear this crown of shit, dándole un matiz orientado al sufrimiento personal más que al autorechazo de la letra de Reznor, además de la modificación instrumental, con un aire más country.

Da gusto escuchar covers así, que incluso mejoran la versión original, y que explotan la cantidad y variedad de sensaciones que una misma canción puede llegar a transmitir.

Every Day is Exactly the Same fue el tercer single del álbum With Teeth, publicado por los estadounidenses Nine Inch Nails en 2005. El tema tuvo una gran aceptación, alcanzando el #1 en el US Modern Rock y en las listas de éxitos canadiense. Además, fue nominado al Grammy a la Mejor Interpretacion Hard Rock en 2007.

Este tema es bastante diferente a lo que suele hacer Nine Inch Nails, aportando un sonido mucho mas limpio y digerible para algunos. Me reservo otra canción suya que me gusta más para otra ocasión :P

Recientemente han publicado un nuevo álbum, Ghost I-IV, con 4 discos de 9 canciones instrumentales cada uno, echadle un ojo por youtube si podéis, no tiene desperdicio.
